I normally write about jewellery that can be worn during the day but sometimes it can be nice to focus on special occasion jewellery – something to wear to celebrate the New Year. Here are a few sparkly pieces to admire.

The first piece, below, is a very large late 19th century rose gold pendant with a central portion set with rose cut diamonds and with a surmount (added later) with diamonds and blue enamel. It has a bottom drop of blue enamel. It glistens and sparkles and really draws the eye.

The next piece is also large, at 8cms in length, and also sparkles beautifully. It is made of silver and set with paste, and is of French origin, probably Flemish, from the late 18th century.

The third piece, below, is a Swiss made late 19th century gold pocket watch with a delicate floral dial and a back pavė set with diamonds. It is a beautiful piece.

Finally, I should talk about the star burst pendant in the photo at the top of the post. It is set with sparkling chrysoberyls, rubies and half pearls in a gold frame.

Happy Christmas and New Year. I am taking a couple of weeks off but will be posting again in January.
