In this last post on wedding anniversary gemstones, I am looking at each decade, from year ten upwards. The gemstone for the year ten anniversary is the diamond and the photo at the top of the post is of a striking diamond brooch set in silver with a gold flat border. The central diamond is surrounded by a swirl of leaves and a row of diamonds.
For the 20th wedding anniversary, emeralds are the gemstones. I think this late Victorian marquis shaped ring with a central oval emerald and a diamond border comprised of 20 old brilliant cut diamonds and four rose cut diamonds would be a perfect gift.

Marquise rings were introduced after 1760. It is essentially an oval with pointed ends, either with a gemstone in the centre, surrounded by diamonds or central diamond in an enamel background. The style is still popular today as it makes fingers look longer and slimmer.
The 30th wedding anniversary gemstone is the pearl and there are some many types and designs of pearl jewellery that could be given. Here is a lovely Edwardian split pearl ring set in an ornate gold setting with a central amethyst.

Forty years of marriage is a long time together so a special piece of jewellery is required. The ruby is the gemstone for this decade and I have selected the ring below, an antique 18ct five stone ruby ring with tiny diamonds. The colour is intense.

Celebrating fifty years of marriage requires something very special. Gold is set down for this anniversary and I think this fabulous gold Etruscan style collar would be appreciated.

It has flat oval decorated links interlocked with geometric bow form segments and finer oval rings. It looks quite spectacular on.
The anniversaries for sixty years and seventy years are jubilee celebrations, diamonds and rubies respectively. But this is probably enough of wedding anniversaries.
